Hey guys welcome back to my blog! It is crazy that I am already writing my final blog, these past twelve weeks have flown by. I have learned so much about different countries' foods and their different styles.
I made my side dish for China to go with my orange chicken from last week. The side that I made was called Chow Mein and is a popular dish in China. These noodles were really good. I did not think I made them right at first. They ended up tasting fine in the end. It was hard to not burn all the ingredients because once you sart you have to keep adding everything one after the other. This was hard for me because I had to keep going back to see what the measurements were and what ingredient was next. I ended up burning the cabbage pretty badly but I just picked out the burnt cabbage and it ended up being okay. These noodles with the chicken were a perfect combination! Y'all are probably wondering what I will do to present my project to everyone. I am not going to be able to bring any food in that I made because I have no way to keep it cold or heat anything up because this class is the last of the day. There is not something I made that I could just serve out of a container except for the Befanini(cookies from Italy) and if you remember, those were a fail. I was planning on making a visual slide show presentation that has pictures of the foods that I made. If you have any other ideas on how I could share my project please comment below. Thank you guys so much for joining me on this 12 week long adventure! I hope everyone has a fabulous week and Merry Christmas!!!!!

Hello everyone! I hope you had a great week/weekend. Christmas break is getting really close. Happy December!!This is my final country that I will be making food for :(. This week I have made some orange chicken. I really am not sure how I felt about my success with this dish. I was supposed to dip the chicken in corn starch before I fried it, but that made the chicken really thick, so I just dipped them in the egg and then into the pan. That worked out a lot better for me. This week was fairly expensive because we never really cook any Asian food, so we had to buy a lot of stuff.
I decided to make a main dish and a side instead of a dessert for China. I made my side this week to go with my chicken. If you can guess what it is from the pictures you should comment below! My dad really liked this chicken and the side dish. My mom liked the side dish, but she did not try the chicken because it was fried. I thought they were both pretty good. The chicken I made looks a lot darker than the chicken in the picture from Pinterest that I found. I probably could have marinated it a little bit longer. Now I know for next time! Thank you guys so much for reading my blog this week. I hope that everyone hangs in there until Christmas break and has an awesome week! Bye guys, see you next week! Hello everyone welcome back to my blog! I hope that y'all had a great Thanksgiving and break from school. This week I struggled to find a dessert for Greece, but I eventually came across these donuts. These are called Loukoumades and they are similar to donuts. These were pretty similar to the Beignets that I made a couple weeks ago.
This dough was a lot easier to work with than the other dough. It was simple and fairly easy to stir and it wasn't super sticky like the Beignets. I used the same technique when I was frying them. I had to use a big spoon so I didn't burn myself. The hardest part about making these is trying to make the dough resemble a circular shape. Only about five of mine turned out round. The rest are random shapes. After I fried all of them I drizzled them in some melted honey. The website said to try them with chocolate and that sounds really good. I didn't have any chocolate to dip them in, but I will probably try it in the future. Thank you guys so much for reading my blog! Next week I will be doing my very last country. I will start cooking for China. I am really excited for this one because I love Chinese food, but I have never tried to make it before. Have a great week everyone! Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog. This is my second to last country that I will be doing. This week I made a Greek dish called Chicken Souvlaki. This is super simple to make at home and I love it. You can make it personalized to your own preferences. The basic ingredients include chicken, pita bread/flat bread, and tzatziki sauce. The sauce was interesting to make. I had never heard of it before and it at first didn't look very appealing to me. But I made it anyways and tried it. It doesn't really taste good on its own, but when it is put with the chicken, veggies, and the pita bread it is so good.
All you have to do is cook some chicken and add some seasonings. Then you can eat it like that or add other stuff. I added some tomatoes and other veggies with the tzatziki sauce and the pita bread. All of the flavors just tasted so good together. My parents really enjoyed this dish, but my younger brother didn't really like the vegetables or the sauce. I looked up how to pronounce that sauce and everything I found was different. If anyone knows how to pronounce it comment below! Thank you guys so much for reading my blog! I hope y'all have an amazing week and a happy Thanksgiving with lots of good food!!!! Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog! This week I made a really yummy French dessert called Beignets. The way to pronounce those is "behn-yays". This dish has some fairly simple ingredients and that is really helpful. I love when I can cook stuff with the leftover ingredients from other recipes because it saves money and it ensures that you will not waste any food! Beignets are similar to doughnuts in some aspects. I think this is one of my favorite things that I have made so far. They are really tasty and my family who are the taste testers also really enjoyed them.
My mom has made these once before so she was able to help me with them. I struggled just a little but she helped me make them and I think that they turned out great. I am enjoying this project so far and I am excited for the weeks to come! Thank you so much for visiting my blog and I hope you tune in next week when I begin a new country. Have a fabulous week! Hey guys welcome to my blog! This week I am beginning to cook food from France. At first I really did not know what I was going to cook but then I did some research and found something on Pinterest. I have heard of these before but I have never actually tried them. I made crepes! Crepes are basically just thin pancakes but sometimes you can put stuff inside them.
All of the ingredients needed for these crepes were already at my house so that was nice. I mixed the ingredients together and began to make the crepes. I messed up on the first one because I did not get it thin enough so it didn't really look like a crepe. I tried again and then it looked good. I added some powdered sugar and strawberries to the top of my crepes and it was so good. I am really excited because the ingredients are really simple and accessible to me so I will probably makes these again soon! Thank you for reading and have a great week! Hey everyone! Welcome back to my blog. This week has been pretty hectic for me but I still managed to cook some yummy food! This week I made crunch wraps. They are basically a quesedilla but with a crunchy shell and more stuff . You only need a couple basic ingredients: a large tortilla and a tostada shell. That is what I love about this recipe, there are two basic ingredients and then you can customize your very own. On my crunch wrap I had chicken, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, jalapeños, and cheese. It was really good. My family made their own as well and they all enjoyed theirs! I made some simple guacamole to top my crunch wrap with and I thought it was a very nice touch. Sadly, this is my last week in Mexico cooking and I will have to move on to a new country this week(I love Mexican food!!). I would really love if y'all could participate in the survey down below to help me choose what country I will be cooking for next. Thank you so much for reading and have a fabulous week!! Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog. This week was my birthday and I had my family over for a party. I made a 7 layer bean dip as an appetizer. It was super good!! Everyone loved it! There were so many ingredients that blended so well together. My mom didn't really have to help me with this dish because it was really simple. I think my family bought this dish was very delicious because I did not even get the chance to take a picture of it before everyone was digging right in to the dip! I apologize for the picture of the half eaten food, but at least there is a picture. This is my favorite dish that I have prepared so far and I am looking forward to the remainder of this super fun project. Next week I will make a main Mexico dish and I am really excited because I think it will be lots of fun! If y'all have any suggestions on what I should cook, you should comment down below. Thank you for reading and have a great week!!
Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog. I have had a super busy week this week. I was supposed to make some mini victorian spongecakes. My schedule this past week was just way too packed for me to do this. I plan on making these cakes tomorrow and posting another blog to update everyone. I am really sorry I couldn't make something last week. I will make two things this week so my blog schedule won't get messed up. I will also work on my time management skills. I hope everyone has a great week!
Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog! As you can probably tell from the title, England won the survey that I put up last week. It took me a long time of searching in order for me to find the dish I wanted to cook this week. I finally decided on something called a full english breakfast. This breakfast often includes toast, bacon rashers, fried eggs, and sausage. A lot of the pictures I found online also included tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, and black pudding. I could not find all of this stuff but I managed to make the majority of it correct.
I went to Harris Teeter to find the ingredients and I bought eggs, bread, sausage, and bacon. I could only find normal bacon but it is a key ingredient so I substituted normal bacon for the bacon rashers. This dish was pretty easy to make for me because I enjoy cooking breakfast foods already and it wasn't really super different from american food. There was that black pudding stuff that I couldn't find though. If I am being completely honest, I am kind of glad I couldn't find it because it doesn't look very appealing to me. My family and I all enjoyed this food and I will upload pictures later this week because my lap top is giving me some technical difficulties. See y'all next week and thank you for reading my blog! |
